A section of Greenock Avenue was washed away by Hurricane Matthew on October 8, 2016. This section of roadway passed over the Arran Lake Dam. A majority of the dam was also washed away by the flood waters. Following the disaster, the City conducted an assessment of the roadway and dam to determine an estimated cost for repairs. The estimated cost to repair the dam and roadway is $3.6 million. Under current City policy, the affected homeowners would be responsible for $1.4 million of the cost.
The City will be scheduling a community meeting in the coming weeks with the community to discuss the policy and how to move forward.
