(Fayetteville, N.C.) – The City of Fayetteville’s Economic and Community Development Department began accepting applications for community safety micro-grants on May 1. These micro-grants aim to inspire and boost community crime reduction activities by supporting efforts to prevent crime and violence in Fayetteville.
This program is part of an overall strategy to reduce crime across the Fayetteville through innovation and impact. Grant applications are available at www.FayettevilleNC.gov/Microgrant.
Funds are awarded to applicants who pledge to carry out qualified crime reduction activities. These grants are not limited to non-profit organizations. The program is intended to include individuals or grassroots groups seeking ways to make a difference in their neighborhoods.
The micro-grant program targets crime reduction in the 28301, 28306, and 28314 zip codes. As such, applications from these zip codes will receive additional consideration, although qualified activities outside of those zip codes are also eligible.
The deadline for the first round of applications is May 31, 2023. The maximum award amount for the third round of funding is $1,500, $2,500 for those who completed tier one, or $5,000 if associated with a non-profit. Organizations with budgets over $100,000 are ineligible. First-round grant recipients who show proof of progress will be eligible for awards in rounds to follow. Four award distribution rounds will provide a total of up to $200,000 to award recipients. Applicants will need to reapply for each round to be eligible for additional awards.
Successful applicants will demonstrate inclusivity, collaboration, use of existing resources and innovation in their submissions that address criteria such as conflict resolution/mediation, community crime prevention, opportunities for youth/families/parents, family stability and supporting upward mobility.
