Red Light Camera Program Update
(Fayetteville, N.C.) – The City of Fayetteville is in the early stages of its red light camera program and has experienced success in citing violators to make our intersections safer.
“Two hundred and sixty-eight citations have been mailed to red light violators from the period July 8-23,” said Lee Jernigan, Interim Engineering & Infrastructure Director. “Watching the video shown in the link provided serves as a visual reminder of the need for these red light cameras. There are clearly people running through red lights across the city, needlessly endangering residents’ lives. We truly hope that the red light cameras will reduce the amount of red light running across the city, resulting in a safer driving experience for all of us.”
Jernigan added: “There are still 657 events in the work flow to be reviewed by the vendor, which will invariably result in further citations issued. Each potential violation is subjected to review by previously-generated business rules between the City and American Traffic Solutions.”
