City and County Hold Hurricane Irma Press Conference

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – City and County officials are holding a press conference on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 2:30 p.m. to discuss the steps the City and County are taking to prepare for the possible arrival of Hurricane Irma and encourage residents to get prepared in case the storm strikes the area. The press conference will be held in front of the Law Enforcement Center next to the Cumberland County Courthouse.

Mayor Nat Robertson and County Commission Chairman Glenn Adams will attend, as well as City and County emergency management staff, Fire Chief Ben Major and Assistant Police Chief Anthony Kelly. 

Advanced preparation is key for storms like Hurricane Irma and specific ways to prepare for the storm will be discussed.

Media personnel are invited to attend. The press conference will be broadcast live on the City of Fayetteville and Cumberland County Facebook pages.

Residents are encouraged to sign up to receive severe weather and emergency notifications through the Cumberland ALERTS system. Visit the County’s website at co.cumberland.nc.us to register.
