City Receives Clean Opinion for Annual Audit

Post Date:12/13/2018 3:19 PM

(Fayetteville, N.C.) — The City of Fayetteville has received a clean audit opinion for its annual audit from RSM US LLP accounting firm from New Bern, which is the highest level of assurance a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) can provide. RSM gave a report Monday, Dec. 10 to the City Council about the annual audit. The firm’s opinion is based on figures provided by the City for July 2017 to June 2018 and presented in the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). RSM also said the City had a clean opinion on whether it followed the required guidelines in the use of state and federal grant funding. This means the City demonstrated good oversight and checks and balances were in place for how it handled its use of federal and state grant funds.

“The City takes great pride in its outstanding marks on the annual audit,” City Manager Doug Hewett said. “It demonstrates the professionalism of our staff and methodology. We owe it to our residents to maintain this highest rating each year.”
