(Fayetteville, N.C.) — At the request of Fayetteville Mayor Mitch Colvin, the City is flying flags at half-staff at City-owned buildings following the tragic shootings at a Virginia Beach municipal building last Friday.

“Unfortunately, tragedies of this nature are becoming all too common,” Mayor Mitch Colvin said. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who lost loved ones in Virginia Beach, and we have lowered flags in Fayetteville to show our support.”

“The events in Virginia Beach are very tragic and sad,” City Manager Doug Hewett said. “We extend our condolences to our Virginia neighbors as they grieve the loss of their family members and friends.”
