Project Overview:

During a neighborhood study conducted in 2009, several projects were identified and proposed to alleviate flooding issues in the Bonnie Doone area. The investigation revealed yard, roadway, and some crawl space flooding.  The study revealed the primary contribution to flooding was the fact that none of the areas had adequate drainage systems in place.  The proposed projects consisted of implementing conveyance systems using a combination of roadside swales and pipes to provide drainage that is consistent with current City standards.  The neighborhood study identified multiple projects delineated by area.

Area 1 – This project involved installation of roadside swales along Allwood Drive and Squirrel Street and a new underground pipe network along Fieldcrest Dr.

Area 2 – The City will make improvements to the roadway gutters on Andy, Clyde, Collins, Higgins, and Cannon Streets. The City will also make improvements to the pipe systems along Andy, Clyde, and Patton Streets as well as on private property on Clyde, Collins, and Higgins Streets.

Area 5 – The City will upgrade existing drainage infrastructure and incorporate newly designed drainage infrastructure for areas without that will be capable of managing storm water flows and reduce or remove the potential for flooding.

Area 12 – This project involved installation of roadside swales, berms, and infiltration basins along Johnson Street east of Bragg Boulevard and along Stansfield Drive.
