The Fayetteville Fire Department (FFD) is built upon a long and proud history of providing quality service to the citizens and visitors of this community. Since the FFD’s inception and it’s charter by the North Carolina Legislature in 1791, the FFD has built and prides itself upon a reputation for diligence, progressive service, and progressive leadership in all-hazards emergency service. This reputation continues to be demonstrated by local, state, and national recognition of both our department and our staff.

The FFD’s long-term goals are focused on a reduction in community risks by meeting emergency service needs, customer expectations, employee satisfaction and needs, and management directives. The FFD desires to be recognized as a leader in public safety while ensuring that the City of Fayetteville remains a safe and secure community that is resilient against all hazards. The FFD will remain committed to representing the diversity of the community it serves in its employee base and to developing its workforce to their fullest potential.

The FFD will continue its constant evaluation of community needs and mold and shape its service delivery for maximum effectiveness. The FFD is accountable to its stakeholders and dedicated to providing the highest quality and efficient preparatory, response and recovery service to our community.

About

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Dove was appointed to Fire Chief on Monday March 4th 2024. Dove has served as Deputy Fire Chief of Operations of the Fayetteville Fire Department since June 2021. Dove has been employed with the Fayetteville Fire Department since October 1999 and has served in all ranks of the department during his tenure.

Chief Dove holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, Fire/Rescue Executive Leadership from Waldorf University, and a Bachelor of Science from Fayetteville State University in Fire Service Management. Dove is a credentialed Chief Fire Officer (CFO) through the Center for Public Safety Excellence. He holds an Executive Fire Officer (EFO) and Managing Fire Officer (MO) certificate through the National Fire Academy as well as a Municipal and County Administration certificate through the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Government. He is also a member of the Cumberland County Fire Chief’s Association as well as the North Carolina Association of Fire Chief’s.

Chief Dove was born and raised in Fayetteville/Cumberland County and is a graduate of South View High School. He is married to wife Stephanie and has a son Cameron. He is an active member of Southview Baptist Church and is heavily involved in his community.
