The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for conducting state mandated fire inspections and fire code enforcement. Code enforcement is conducted in all occupancies except one and two family dwellings. On July 1, 1991 the State Fire Code was adopted. State legislation enacted a mandatory inspection schedule. This schedule governs the frequency of inspections based on occupancy classification.

 The Fayetteville Fire Department conducts inspections for existing structures only. All new construction inspections must be conducted by the City Building Inspections Department, 433-1707.

Fire Inspection Fee Schedule

 

  • False Alarms
    • No charge for the 1st and 2nd false alarm, $500.00 for each subsequent false alarm per calendar year.
  • Fines
    • Exit Violation
      • $500.00 for the first offense,
      • $1,000 for each subsequent offense in the period of a year
    • Code Violation
      • $100.00 for the first offense,
      • $250.00 for the second offense,
      • $500.00 for each subsequent offense in the period of a year; each and every day continuing violation of any provision of this chapter shall constitute a separate and distinct violation.
    • Overcrowding Violation
      • $100.00 per person over the posted number allowed
    • Occupying a building without a Certificate of Occupancy
      • $500.00 per offense
    • Installation of life safety equipment or underground tank piping
      • $500.00 per offense

  • Re-inspection Fee - $50 per visit  
  • A.L.E. -  Billed as regular fire inspection based on occupancy and square foot.
  • Amusement Buildings -   $75 per visit
  • Carnival and fair -  $75 per visit
  • Courtesy/Requested Inspections -  Billed as regular fire inspection based on occupancy and square foot.
  • Covered mall bldg. Displays -  $75 per visit
  • Equipment Testing -  $75.00 per visit plus $50.00 per additional hour for weekend or after hours request
    (alarm, sprinkler, hood suppression and flammable or combustible liquid systems)
  • Exhibits/trade show -  $75 per visit
  • Fireworks/Explosives Permit -  $250.00 per event
  • Foster Home -  $75 per visit
  • LP or gas equip. in assemble -  $75 per visit
  • Tent Permit -  $75 Construction Permit and $35 Operational Permit

Training Facility Fees

  • FAR-1 One-Day Training -  $250.00 per person
  • Recurrent Three-Day Training -  $425.00 per person
  • Out of State Training Registration Fee -  $60.00 per person
  • Refueling Course -  $65.00 per person
  • Industry -  $175.00 per burn

  • Haz-Mat Unit Response $555.00 per hour
  • Haz-Mat Battalion Commander Response $60.00 per hour
