Smoke Alarm Installation
Do you have working smoke alarms in your home? Are you unsure? The Fayetteville Fire Department will send a local crew of firefighters to your home to check your smoke alarms to make sure they are in working order and replace the battery or the unit free of charge. Safe Kids Car Seat Station
The Fayetteville Fire Department, in partnership with Safe Kids of Cumberland County, offer free car seat inspection and installation services, at various fire stations throughout the City. While we will not provide "free" car seats, our technicians will ensure that your car seat is properly installed, adequate for your child's needs, and serviceable.
The City of Fayetteville is proud to support Child Passenger Safety. An estimated four out of five children are not properly restrained in their car seat or booster seat. We will gladly check the restraint system and recall lists for your child to ensure their safety. You can get your child’s restraint system checked at any of the following locations:
Monday – Saturday 10 a.m.–8 p.m.

Citizen Ride-Along Program
Persons eighteen (18) years and older wishing to participate in the Ride-Along program should initiate their requests through the Fire Department Recruitment Officer @ 910-676-1716. While participating, individuals will experience first-hand what life is like as a City Firefighter. Individuals will not participate in actual firefighting activities, but will be able to respond with and observe their assigned company perform their respective duties.
Community Watch Meetings
Fayetteville Fire Department shall, upon request, reserve space within a local fire station for organized community watch events. The availability of classroom space will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with fire department related activities taking precedence. Firefighters may be available to present community information and fire safety messages, upon request and availability.
Sparky
Sparky is an interactive costume available for most public educational events. Sparky is most appropriate for ages 3-7, and is designed to heighten the children's fire-safety awareness without causing distress.
Fire Safety for Students and young Adults
These classes are available for Cumberland County Schools, within the City of Fayetteville, and are made appropriate and flexible for each age group. Firefighters will present fire safety information as well as show the fire apparatus and put on their turnout gear while briefly explaining the use.
Fire Safety Classes for Adults
These classes range from general fire safety classes to hands only CPR and fire extinguisher training. These classes are idea for civic groups, churches and businesses in which they would like to be properly trained, in an orderly and educational manner.
Station Tours
Tours may be scheduled beginning 9 am Mondays through Saturdays. Firefighters will put on turnout gear while a speaker discusses each item and its safety aspects. Firefighters will also teach the children valuable fire safety tips. Visitors will also be allowed to see the common areas of the station, as well as its' equipment. All children will require supervision by an adult during the station tour.
Career Day
Members of the Fayetteville Fire Department are available to set up an informational booth at career fairs. Firefighters will speak about educational and training requirements, as well as provide information about employment with the City, and the application process.
Static Equipment Displays
A Fire truck visit may be requested as a part of fire prevention, educational program or an approved community service project within city limits. The visit may not exceed 2 hours per event, and shall only occur between 9 am and 7pm. Please ensure all requests are at least one week in advance. Equipment will remain in-service (available for emergencies) during their display.
