All suspects, and persons charged with a crime, are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Persons of interest are believed to have information relating to a case, and have not been charged unless stated otherwise.

 

Update to Homicide Investigation

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have identified the victim, and arrested a suspect, in connection with the shooting that occurred on April 29, 2021 along the 5200 block of Killdeer Drive.

 

The victim has been identified as Randy Michael King (B/M, 69 years of age) of the 5200 block of Killdeer Drive. His next of kin has been notified.

 

The suspect has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. The suspect is 16 years of age and his identity will not be released. The suspect has not been processed yet, but will be processed in the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center.

 

Detectives have confirmed that the victim and suspect were known to each other.

 

Homicide Investigation

           

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Thursday April 29, 2021, at 5:00 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to reports of a subject being shot along the 5200 block of Killdeer Drive.

 

The investigation has revealed a call was received by 911 dispatch from a male subject that advised he had just shot his relative. Upon officers’ arrival, they located the victim in an upstairs room, deceased. He had been shot multiple times. The caller was sitting outside when officers arrived on scene. This was not a random act.

 

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification. Homicide detectives are currently on scene conducting an investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
