Chief Kemberle Braden
Chief Kemberle Braden started with the Fayetteville Police Department in March 1996 after graduation from Basic Law Enforcement Training. As an officer, he worked in Patrol Operations, Narcotics Vice Suppression Unit, Special Projects Unit and the Neighborhood Improvement Team. Chief Braden was then promoted to sergeant, where he worked in Patrol Operations, the Special Projects Unit and supervised the Gun and Gang Task force assigned to address violent crime throughout the city. The task force became a full-time unit known as the Gun & Gang Violence Unit. Once promoted to Lieutenant, Chief Braden served as a Sector Lieutenant over Charlie Sector in Central District and as acting Captain for a year. Chief Braden was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as the District Commander for the Cross Creek District. Once he was promoted to Major, Chief Braden was assigned to the position of Chief of Staff, working directly for the Chief of Police on major projects. Over the course of his career, Chief Braden spent 22 years on the department’s Emergency Response Team, working his way up from a basic operator to Team Commander. Chief Braden earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and is a Graduate of the FBI National Academy Session class 272. In addition, he attended the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University in July, 2022. Chief Braden is married to his wife, Beth and he has two children; a son, Christian and a daughter, Patricia. He also has two grandchildren, Amelia and Cornelius.
