Update to Homicide Investigation – Suspect Arrested
(Fayetteville, NC) – Homicide Detectives, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service, have arrested Keshawn Ayers for the homicide of a two year old juvenile that occurred on December 31, 2021 along Malloy Street.
Keshawn Ayers (B/M, 26 years of age) was apprehended on the evening of January 7, 2021 along Bragg Boulevard. He remains in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.

Homicide Investigation – Suspect Sought
(Fayetteville, NC) – On December 31, 2021, at 8:35 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to reports of an unresponsive two year old along the 2100 block of Malloy Street.
The child was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries. Due to the age of the victim, his identification will not be released. At the time of the incident, the victim was in the custody of his mother’s boyfriend, Keshawn Ayers.

The autopsy determined the manner of death to be homicide and warrants have been obtained on Keshawn Ayers (B/M, 26 years of age) of the 2100 block of Malloy Street. Ayers has been charged with First Degree Murder and Felony Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Physical Injury. Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance locating Ayers.
