Assistant Chief of Police Graduates from FBI National Academy
On December 16, 2016, Assistant Chief Michael Petti with the Fayetteville Police Department graduated from the 266th session of the FBI National Academy Program in Quantico, Virginia. The National Academy is by invitation only for Law Enforcement Officers from around the world. Less than half of 1% of law enforcement officers are selected to attend this training course. The 266th Session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 48 states. Included in the class are members of law enforcement agencies from the District of Columbia, 20 international countries, five military organizations, and eight federal civilian organizations.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offers eleven weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies. Another component during the academy is physical fitness. During his time at the Academy, Assistant Chief Petti earned a “Yellow Brick” for completing a physically demanding 6.1 mile obstacle course at the end of the academy.
Training for the program is provided by the FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.
Please join us in congratulating Assistant Chief Petti on the successful completion of the FBI National Academy and the valuable information he brings back to the Fayetteville Police Department.
