Business Owner Shot during Robbery

 

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Thursday, December 22, 2016 at approximately 12:12 am, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a business robbery and shooting at Kim’s Smoke Shop located at 501 Bonanza Drive.

 

The investigation revealed that as the owner was preparing to close for the evening, an unknown black male entered the business and was armed with a handgun.  The suspect immediately pointed the gun at the business owner and made demands for money from the business.  The owner attempted to shield himself from the suspect during the robbery, when all of a sudden; the suspect shot the owner in the leg.  The suspect grabbed money from the business and fled from the scene.

 

The victim was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he remains in fair condition.  The identity of the victim is being withheld, until his immediate family can be notified. 

 

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’0 in height and was of a thin build.  The suspect was described as wearing all black clothing with white shoes and some type of shirt covering his face. 

 

Detectives with the FPD’s Robbery Unit are actively investigating the robbery and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
