Heather Carter Missing Person Investigation - Crime of the Week
(Fayetteville, NC) -- Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit have charged and arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the area of the Zip-N-Mart located at 2413 Hope Mills Road.
Detectives have arrested Jimmy Lee Proffitt II (W/M, 28 years of age) of the 3200 block of Tully Lane in Hope Mills in connection with the shooting of Ashley Davila. Proffitt has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Assault With a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill and Inflicting Serious Injury (AWDWIKISI), Discharging a Weapon into an Occupied Vehicle and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
During the shooting, Ashley Davila (W/F, 29 years of age) was struck in the hand and leg by the gunshots and was able to drive away from the scene. Heather Carter (W/F, 28 years of age) was unable to get back to the vehicle and detectives are concerned that Carter was injured during the shooting; however her whereabouts remain unknown. Detectives are concerned for Heather Carter’s safety and they are asking anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward. Heather Carter is a W/F, 5’5 in height, 160 pounds with red hair, brown eyes and a fair skin tone. Carter has the tattoo of “Clover” on her ankle, a “J” on her wrist and “Heather” on her shoulder.
Detectives recovered a vehicle earlier today that was driven away from the scene during the shooting by Jimmy Proffitt and are asking anyone that may have seen the vehicle in the area of Hope Mills Road, Raeford Road or the general vicinity on July 12th or thereafter, to please call detectives or Crimestoppers. (A likeness of the vehicle that was recovered has been attached to the media release for dissemination).
