Suspect’s Charges Elevated to 1st Degree Murder
(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit have charged and arrested Jimmy Lee Proffitt II (W/M, 28 years of age) with 1st Degree Murder in connection with the shooting that occurred during the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 12, 2017 in the area of the Zip-N-Mart located at 2413 Hope Mills Road.
During the shooting, Ashley Davila (W/F, 29 years of age) was struck in the hand and leg by the gunshots and was able to drive away from the scene. Heather Carter (W/F, 28 years of age) was unable to get back to the vehicle after having been shot. After weeks of being unable to locate Heather Carter, Jimmy Proffitt has been charged in connection with her death.
Jimmy Proffitt was already jailed at the Cumberland County Detention Center in connection with the shooting and is now jailed without bond after having been charged with 1st Degree Murder.
Detectives are asking anyone with information as it relates to the whereabouts of Heather Carter, to please come forward and assist with bringing some closure to her family.
