Update to Traffic Fatality

(Fayetteville, NC) – Officers with the FPD’s Traffic Unit have identified the driver fatally wounded during a collision this afternoon along Morganton Road, as Ricky Armwood (B/M, 58 years of age) of the 2500 block of Fleet Cooper Road in Roseboro, NC. 

Mr. Armwood was operating a U.S. Postal Delivery Truck when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2015 Dodge Journey being operated by Deborah Wright (B/F, 58 years of age) of the 1200 block of Chilton Drive in Fayetteville.  Ricky Armwood was pronounced deceased at the scene from injuries sustained during the crash.  Deborah Wright was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and was not seriously injured during the crash.

Officers with the FPD’s Traffic Unit have charged Deborah Wright with Misdemeanor Death by Motor Vehicle and are continuing to investigate the fatal collision.

Traffic Fatality

(Fayetteville, NC) – On Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at approximately 12:25 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle crash along Morganton Road near St. Mary’s Parkway.

The preliminary investigation revealed that two (2) vehicle were involved in a crash on Morganton Road and one of the driver’s has been pronounced deceased.  The driver of the other vehicle has been transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and is listed in fair condition.

Officers with the FPD’s Traffic Unit are actively investigating the crash and additional information will be released as it becomes available.  

Morganton Road is closed between McPherson Church Road and Cliffdale Road. Motorists are encouraged to utilize McPherson Church Road and Cliffdale Road to get to areas affected by the crash until the roadway can be reopened.
