Suspect Arrested for Death of Seven-Year-Old
(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit have charged and arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a seven-year-old male child which occurred on Monday, April 15, 2019.
On Monday, April 15, 2019, at approximately 12:41 pm, officers with the Fayetteville Police Department along with medical personnel responded to a seven-year-old male child who was not breathing at a residence along the 1600 block of Berriedale Drive. The child was pronounced deceased on the scene. The Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit immediately began an investigation. Based on the investigation and reports from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, it was determined that the child was not receiving proper care.
Detectives charged and arrested Geneen Ballenger (B/F, 53 years of age) of the 1600 block of Berriedale Drive, Fayetteville, with Involuntary Manslaughter.
Ballenger was arrested and processed on November 1, 2019, at the Cumberland County Detention Center where she has since been released on a $25,000.00 unsecured bond.
