(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit have identified the victim from the fatal shooting on April 24, 2017 along the 4800 block of Alamance Road as Dennis Burden (B/M, 21 years of age). The suspect has been identified as Shyheim White (B/M, 19 years of age) of the 30 block of Suggs Taylor Road in Dublin, NC. White has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of Burden. The charge is in reference to the negligent and reckless use of the firearm while at the apartment on Alamance Road.

(Fayetteville, NC) – Detectives with the FPD’s Homicide Unit were notified earlier this morning that Jeffrey Ander Brewington (I/M, 62 years of age) died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Brewington was discovered beaten inside of his home late Friday night along the 2100 block of Goins Drive, when officers were dispatched to his home in reference to a well-being check.

During this time frame the Fayetteville Police Department investigated a series of six (6) rapes which occurred in the North Fayetteville/Ramsey Street area and have remained unsolved. These rapes were committed by a suspect who was dubbed the “Ramsey Street Rapist.”

The rape occurred after the victim met the suspect on November 24, 2001 and was then kidnapped and raped in a parking lot near the intersection of Yadkin Road and Skibo Road.

This week will focus on a cold case that occurred shortly after 1:00 am on October 25, 2011, Fayetteville Police Officers responded to a report of a robbery and sexual assault at a Convenience Store located in the vicinity of the 6000 Block of Yadkin Road. During the course of the robbery; a suspect entered the store, brandished a hand-gun, and stole money and merchandise. Before leaving the store, the suspect took a female victim into the back room and sexually assaulted her. The suspect then left the store in a dark colored Chevy Corsica or Pontiac Grand Am, heading on Fillyaw Road towards Reilly Road.
