General Contractor License Prep Program
The National Weather Service has issued a warning about inclement weather that is expected to hit the Fayetteville region today. This could include heavy rainfall, sustained winds, and potentially dangerous wind gusts. To ensure the safety of our stakeholders, employees, and families, the General Contractors License Prep Program interest meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 5:30 p.m.
This General Contractors License Prep Program offers an opportunity for participants to receive training and test preparation with the expected outcome of preparing participants to take and pass the General Contractors Exam. The City of Fayetteville hopes this will encourage greater participation in government contracting as well as new and improved employment opportunities. Training facilitated by Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) will include the following areas of focus: Building/Construction/Industrial Training, Blueprint Reading/Construction, Carpentry, Residential Building Codes, Demolition, Res Planning/Estimating, and Construction Safety.
The program will consist of two (2) full days (8 hours) of classroom training. City sponsorship will cover supplies, materials, testing fees, legal fees, and credit assistance. Cohort size will be limited to ten (10) to fifteen (15) participants. All participants must agree to retain or create at least one full-time equivalent job and make it available to a low to moderate-income person within one year from the date of the completed program and to take the NC General Contractor License exam within 45 days of completing the test preparation. Failure to do so will obligate the participant to reimburse all expenses incurred during the program.
