City's Pavement Preservation Program

The City's Pavement Preservation Program operates on a yearly schedule and consists of different maintenance treatments such as Resurfacing, Slurry seal and Micro-surfacing.

Resurfacing projects occur annually either in a single phase or in two phases depending on the scale of the project. These projects are funded from Powell Bill (yearly budget) and GO Bond (for FY23, FY24 and FY25). This treatment will apply on deteriorated aged roads in a generally poor to fair condition, that suffer from moderate distress, by providing a new/fresh pavement surface to extend the pavement's lifespan.

The Slurry seal and Micro-surfacing projects take place once per year, and their funding is allocated from the Powell Bill budget. These maintenance techniques are effective in fixing roads that have a good to fair overall condition experiencing low-moderate issues. These treatments provide a tough, uniform, black color and a smooth surface layer over aged road pavements.
