Collection Delays

The Solid Waste Department makes every effort to pick up all approved items on your regular collection day. However, there may be uncontrollable circumstances that can prevent this from happening. If you feel your items were not collected on your regular collection day, by a certain time, please continue to leave those items out at the curb. Our Solid Waste professionals will collect items either that day at a later time, or by the end of the next collection day. If you have any questions regarding your collection, or if your items have not been collected by the end of the next collection day, please reach out to the call center at 910-433-1329.

Mission Statement

Our main focus is to provide efficient, friendly, and convenient removal of residential waste. We offer several services to help you keep your property clean. Our crews collect household waste, yard waste, large limbs, and bulky items, all under the same annual fee.

    Comprehensive Solid Waste Study

The Solid Waste Division commissioned a Comprehensive Solid Waste Study to examine the efficiency of services and the amount of recyclables that end up in the landfill. The final report is available for review in addition to a spreadsheet comparing Fayetteville Trash Collection Services to other municipalities in NC and a copy of the attachments from the Comprehensive Solid Waste Study.

    Sustainability Master Plan

In 2009, the City of Fayetteville adopted a Sustainability Master Plan that addresses the broad definition of sustainability and incorporates the environment, social equity, and the economy. This approach is often referred to as the triple bottom line. Long-term sustainability depends on a careful balancing of economic, social, and environmental goals and objectives. Proposed efforts had to take into account and benefit all three objectives.
