DAP Application Process

Homeowners with drainage concerns on their property are asked complete the Drainage Assistance Program Application at https://www.fayettevillenc.gov/DAP. Completed applications may be sent via mail to Drainage Assistance Program, 433 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Submit Application

  • Application is submitted to DAP Program
  • Once the application is submitted, DAP engineers will conduct a site investigation normally within three business days to determine eligibility. Staff will contact the applicant if necessary. 

Project Prioritization

  • If you qualify for the program, we'll assess the severity of your project. Then, it will be scored and ranked among other drainage projects. City Council budgeted $400,000 in Fiscal Year 2022 for the Drainage Assistance Program.

Approval

  • Projects are presented to the SWAB on a quarterly basis for approval
  • SWAB can approve, deny or hold projects based on available budget.
  • Once projects are approved, projects move to the design, permitting and construction phase.

Design, Permitting & Construction

  • Design and permitting can take six to nine months (or longer if there are challenging project needs). Then, we start construction! Construction typically takes one to two months.
  • Staff will meet with property owners to review the preliminary design plans before moving forward with construction drawings
  • All involved property owners must sign a Drainage Assistance Program Agreement prior to construction.
