    Jensen to serve as mayor pro tem, elected officials take oaths of office

    City council elected District 1 Councilwoman Kathy Jensen by a majority vote to serve as the new mayor pro tem on Dec 6. Councilwoman Jensen was nominated by District 4 Councilman D.J. Haire. The vote was 9 – 1.

    City council inauguration ceremony set for Dec. 6

    The City of Fayetteville will hold its inauguration ceremony for Mayor Mitch Colvin and City Council at 6 p.m. on Dec. 6, 2023. The ceremony will take place at Fayetteville State University in the J.W. Seabrook Auditorium, 1200 Murchison Rd.

    The City of Fayetteville launched the “ShotSpotter Fayetteville” webpage on Nov. 15 to provide City residents with timely and accurate data. ShotSpotter is a gunfire detection technology provided by Sound Thinking that uses acoustic sensors, or microphones, placed in a designated area of deployment.

    City Sets Dates for Loose Leaf Pickup Season

    The City of Fayetteville’s residential loose leaf collection service is scheduled to begin Nov. 20 in neighborhoods with 28301 and 28312 zip codes. Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation personnel uses specialized equipment to collect loose leaves along the curb.
