City Wins 2023 Dam Safety Award
The City of Fayetteville wins the 2023 Southeast Regional Dam Safety Award for its work on the Mirror Lake Dam. The Associate of State Dam Safety Officials (ASDSO) announced the City’s accomplishment July 7.

NCDOT to Host Public Meeting on Morganton Road Improvements July 18
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced it will host a public input meeting on a series of recommended safety improvements Morganton Road on July 18 at Highland Presbyterian Church, 111 Highland Ave., from 5 to 7 p.m.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) announced July 5 that Bragg Boulevard in Fayetteville will receive upgrades for pedestrian and vehicular safety.

Filing Period for City Council Candidacy July 7-21
The Cumberland County Board of Elections announced filing period dates for Fayetteville Mayor and City Council elections. Fayetteville residents interested in running for Mayor or City Council must file for candidacy between Noon, July 7 and Noon, July 21.

Transit Fare Reinstatement July 1
Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) is preparing residents for fare collections for all fixed route and paratransit services starting July 1. Fares return at the same rate prior to March 2020 when suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

FCPR uses Arts Council Grant to support Independence Concert
An $8,000 grant from the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County will be used to support the Independence Concert to be held in Festival Park on Tuesday, July 4. The concert is being presented by the City of Fayetteville and the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra to celebrate the holiday.

Updated Solid Waste Ordinance goes into effect July 1
The City of Fayetteville Solid Waste Division begins enforcing policies in the updated solid waste ordinance on July 1. The ordinance changes allow the Solid Waste Division to provide more consistent and efficient collection services to more than 15,000 residents daily.
