Operating hours for Jordan Soccer Complex will expand following the addition of new lights. Light installations wrapped up on Oct. 22. New lights allow for more competition and play on all fields. The soccer complex includes eight fields, public parking and access to the Cape Fear River Trail.

The City of Fayetteville Fire Marshal declared Quality Inn and Suites at 2910 Sigman Street, an unsafe building. On August 26, the Fire Marshal sent a letter to the building owner after receiving a complaint about possible hazards in guest rooms.

Today, Mayor Mitch Colvin issued an amended State of Emergency for the City of Fayetteville. The update is due to the rapid and prevalent spread of the COVID Delta variant. The new declaration takes effect Friday, August 20 at 5:00 p.m. It will remain in effect until it is modified or rescinded.

The Cross Creek Bank Stabilization Project is complete. Barricades were removed and people can now walk or bike the rebuilt section of Linear Park Trail. The stabilized bank now features a fence. Plants will be installed on the bank by the end of the month.

Part C of the Cape Fear River Trail is now open. Barricades were removed after a year of construction. Part C is the lower portion of the Cape Fear River Trail. It connects Parts A and B. With the addition of Part C, the trail now spans more than seven miles one way.

Beginning August 2, City of Fayetteville Government employees and people inside City buildings will be required to wear masks. Also, people who ride inside City vehicles will be required to wear masks.

The City flag outside City Hall is at half-staff to commemorate the life of Council Member William Joseph Leon Crisp. Mayor Mitch Colvin issued the declaration to lower the flag this morning.
