Army Veteran and experienced communications professional, Loren Bymer, has been named Marketing and Communications Director for the City of Fayetteville effective December 5, 2022. In his new role, Bymer will oversee media relations and strategic internal and external communication and marketing efforts, ensuring they align with the goals and objectives in the City’s Strategic Plan.
"Fayetteville is a City with a unique history and a remarkable spirit, and I look forward to the expertise and energy Loren will bring to telling our City's story," said City Manager Doug Hewett. "His proven track record and experience in strategic communication will be critical to the continued successful implementation of our strategic communication plan."
Bymer is no stranger to the Fayetteville community. He joins the City of Fayetteville from Cumberland County Government, where he has served as the Deputy Public Information Director since 2021. During his role with the County, he successfully developed and implemented marketing and communication strategies based on county priorities within the various departments to engage and inform residents leading to measurable results.
Prior to Cumberland County, Bymer served in several assignments as a public affairs officer during his tenure in the United States Army. Prior to his retirement from the military in 2020, Bymer served the United States Army Special Operations Command as the Director for Public Affairs, a similar post he has held in multiple units and installations.
“I look forward to becoming a member of the Marketing and Communications team for the City,” said Bymer. “Adding to the Mar-Comm team who has established a great reputation will be challenging and I am looking forward to the opportunity.”
Throughout his career, Bymer has prioritized customer experience, integrity, organization, team-building and data-driven strategy. Bymer earned both a Bachelor of Journalism in Advertising and a Masters of Science in Marketing, Communication, and Advertising from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
