    Fayetteville veterans stand down offers free health and life services May 11

    The City of Fayetteville and Veteran Affairs (VA) Fayetteville Coastal Health Care System will host a community Stand Down event on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Festival Park, 335 Ray Ave. The Stand Down is a free collection of resources for veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

    Deep Creek Road Closed for Railroad Maintenance

    Southern Commercial Development will close the Deep Creek Road railroad crossing on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 a.m. The company will implement a detour around the closing as CSX Corp. performs maintenance on the crossing. Deep Creek Road is scheduled to reopen Wednesday, May 3 at 5 p.m.

    Councilwoman Banks-McLaughlin Appointed to State Commission

    Governor Roy Cooper announced April 6 that Fayetteville City Councilwoman Courtney Banks-McLaughlin will serve as a member of the Governor’s Crime Commission (GCC). Banks-McLaughlin joins the chief advisory body to the Governor and to the Secretary of Public Safety on crime and justice issues.

    NCDOT is scheduled to begin construction on the Country Club Drive railroad crossing just north of the Murchison Road intersection on Wednesday, April 26. Residents should expect traffic delays when repairs begin. The repairs should be completed in the same day.
