Juneteenth holiday closure and schedules
City of Fayetteville government offices will be closed on Monday, June 20, to observe the Juneteenth Holiday. In January, Fayetteville City Council members voted to change the City ordinance and add Juneteenth as a holiday for the first time in City government history.

First round Community Safety Micro-grants awarded
City of Fayetteville leaders and staff are excited to announce the first round Community Safety Micro-grant award recipients. Today, a community-based advisory group approved the recommended distribution of a total of $50,000 in grant awards to 32 applications.

City program to support homebuyers
Fayetteville residents can take advantage of new resources that ease the process of home buying, especially for first-time homeowners. Homebuyer classes are on the fourth Saturday of each month. The next session is Saturday, June 25.

New lifeguards ready for assignments; positions still open
Fayetteville-Cumberland Parks and Recreation (FCPR) pools open on Memorial Day and lifeguards are ready for summer assignments. Nearly 50 lifeguards completed orientation on Saturday, May 21 at the Keith A. Bates, Sr. Pool at College Lakes Recreation Center on Rosehill Road.

FAST hiring fair can be quick path to new career
New applicants are welcome to attend the Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) hiring fair tomorrow at Kiwanis Recreation Center, 352 Devers Street. The event hours are 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Candidates can apply on site and do on-the-spot interviews with FAST leaders.

City Attorney elected to state municipalities board
The City of Fayetteville’s top attorney, Karen McDonald, was selected for a position as an officer on the board of the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM). McDonald is currently the President of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys (NCAMA), a branch of NCLM.
